Meat Studies Career Opportunities

butcherThe majority of butchers employed in South Australia work in retail outlets. They are trained in selecting, cutting, trimming, preparing and then displaying meat for sale. Retail butchers receive supplies from meat wholesaler or abattoirs, where butchers/meat workers are also employed.

Students who complete Certificate level one qualifications could to be employed by Meat Retailer in a variety of settings, such as supermarkets, butchers shops and delicatessens.
 Graduates may also find employment with meat wholesalers or abattoirs.

Graduates of higher level qualifications could proceed within the trade as a supervisor or team leader within a supermarket chain, butcher, small goods outlet, with a meat wholesaler or at an abattoir.
